Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood or blood products to survive.
Be a part of the solution on Tuesday, Sept. 17 right here at Fremont High School by donating blood at a blood drive hosted by the American Red Cross and Student Council.
The Red Cross will be set up in the FHS Gymnasium from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for donations. To be eligible for donation, students must be at least 17 years old, unless parental consent has been provided if the student is 16. Those under 16 are not eligible to donate according to the Red Cross. Students must also meet additional requirements set by the Red Cross including weighing at least 110 pounds, depending on height.
A full list of the donation requirements can be found online at www.redcrossblood.org.
On donation day, students who are donating will have their vital signs taken and a brief health history taken to ensure they are eligible to donate. Once deemed eligible, they will be taken to a station where the process will begin.
