During Thanksgiving Break, eight of Fremont’s cheerleaders went to Orlando, Florida to perform in a parade at Magic Kingdom. There were three FMS cheerleaders and five FHS cheerleaders. Starting with the FMS cheerleaders they were: Reece Perry, Ella Davis, and Teagan Deem, and the FHS cheerleaders were Ava Davis, Bella Lofland, Bella Mann, Aryanna Pillitiere, and Jaylin Alexander.
The FHS and FMS were split into two different events, the Varsity Spirit Spectacular (FHS) and the Orlando Thanksgiving Day Parade (FMS). In order to go to these events, the girls had to attend a UCA camp over the summer, which lasted two days. For the FHS, the only requirement, other than attending camp, was that they had to be on Varsity. For FMS, they had to at least try out for All American at camp.
For both events, the cheerleaders were sent videos of their dance one month prior, and they were required to learn the dance before the event date. They were also sent a box that had poms, their uniform, event T-shirts, and a bag to carry all of their items in.
FHS Coach Krystal Davis held a showcase on the Wednesday before they left for Florida, so any friends and/or family members that couldn’t watch the girls in person could see the dance before they left.
Each event had two days that had different events going on, a practice day and a performance day. For the Varsity Spirit Spectacular, they had a four hour practice on Friday, a break on Saturday, and then they performed on Sunday. For the Orlando Thanksgiving Day Parade, they had a three hour practice on Tuesday, and they performed on Wednesday. Both events required plenty of time, effort, and money; however, all five girls enjoyed the event, and would gladly do it again.
