Leah Probst Is a Sophmore at Fremont High School, but she does more than just school work; she also loves to ride horses.
She has been riding horses since she was just 3 years old. When she was younger she went to one of her dad’s cousin’s horse shows, and ever since she went to that show she fell in love with barrel racing.
Probst rides at DC Hollow Creek stables in Auburn, Indiana. Her horse’s show name is Watcha Know Good and his home name is Tator Tot.
Probst has been riding for a total of 12 years. When Leah was asked what does it take to become a barrel racer at the level you’re riding at now? she responded by saying, “Mainly just dedication and a good mentor.”
She recently competed at the NBHA (National Barrel Horse Association) state show in Edinburgh, Indiana and it was around a 3 hour long drive to attend. It was located at Hoosier Horse Park at a massive fair ground strictly for horses. She went down and competed against youth ages 9-12; there were over 300 people there.
Probst qualified for finals the first day and she placed 6th in the 4D in finals. It’s an achievement many barrel racers only dream of, and she made it a reality!
