Just in the fall semester, Fremont High School has 119 students enrolled in at least one dual credit course through Trine University according to FHS Guidance Counselor Holli Miller.
These courses, offered at FHS by six teachers, include classes such as government, English, Spanish, chemistry, and more. Combined, students who are enrolled in dual credit courses this fall have the potential to earn 650 hours of college credit.
Miller said combined, this is more than $300,000 worth of Trine credits earned, just by taking these courses through their FHS teachers. These credits are offered at a discount for Fremont High School students to take advantage of which helps offset the cost of college later because they have already earned credits toward their degree.
“I think it’s important to mention that those students are prepared to succeed in those classes through the education they’re receiving in their foundational classes first,” Miller said in an email. “So, it’s a complete group effort.”
Dual enrollment courses are offered annually at FHS and students interested in taking them should speak with Miller. Set an appointment by emailing [email protected].
